Best practice advises us to send a letter to an individual to invite them to an investigation meeting after we have written to advise them that they are under investigation.
There is no right to be accompanied at this meeting, as this is an information gathering meeting and not a formal part of the process.
There may be occasions when we do not write to the employee at these stages, as it may effect the integrity of the process. Please seek advise if you are unsure on how to proceed.
